Australia reverses its decision to recognize the West national capital as the Israeli capital of Australia

On Tuesday, government minister Penny Wong known as the previous government called it a "cynical ploy" to convert Judaic voters ahead of an election in Australia.

"I regret that mister Morrison's call to play politics resulted in Australia's shifting position, and therefore the distress these shifts have caused to several individuals within the Australian community who care deeply concerning this issue," she said.

She reaffirmed the country's "previous and longstanding" position that the standing of the national capital ought to be resolved as a part of peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian people.
